Accident Summary:

. THIS MAJOR ACCIDENT INVOLVED A UH-1C AIRCRAFT BEING USED DURING DAY LIGHT HOURS FOR A COMBAT SUPPORT MISSION IN RVN. DURING AN ATTEMPTED TAKE-OFF IN AN OVERGROSS WEIGHT CONDITION WITH FOUR (4) PERSONNEL ABOARD AFTER RE-FUELING AND RE-ARMING, THE SKIDS OF THE UH-1C AIRCRAFT STRUCK A 4 1/2' HIGH BERM LOCATED ALONG THE TAKEOFF PATH. THE LEFT SKID OF THE AIRCRAFT NOSED DOWN STRIKING THE GROUND AND COMING TO REST ON ITS RIGHT SIDE. THE FOUR PERSONNEL ABOARD THE AIRCRAFT WHEN IT CRASHED SUCCESSFULLY EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT SERIOUS INJURY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED BY THE CRASH AND POST-CRASH FIRE.\\
